Touchdown in London Town

We arrived yesterday at 9:30 am LDN time and the adventure began. There is a quote that goes something like, “when everything goes wrong, that’s when the adventure begins”… and so it did. Aside from general confusion at the airport, we managed to miss our tube stop, drop a suitcase in the middle of traffic, and acquired a tour guide who knew about as much as we did.. Two and half hours later, we made it to our hostel which we later found out was about 2.5 miles away from the station…. The “adventure” didn’t end there. Upon arrival we were told that check in was not until 2 pm, the elevator was broken, and that we would we staying on the top floor which was exactly 101 steps from the street (don’t worry, we counted on the way down this morning). By the time we got to our room, we looked like we had just run a marathon in velour jumpsuits in the Sahara desert. We made a really attractive entrance.

Today was less of an adventure. We stuffed our faces with free breakfast at the hostel, my meal of choice was two nutella and banana sandwiches, so that we could stay full and avoid spending money on food. We walked about 3 miles to the world famous Portobello market which lead on for two more miles of tables filled with watches, compasses, vintage clothing, maps, fresh food, and everything else that is good. Here are a few mediocre pictures from today, better ones on the way:
